my kid is being sued for stealing the rich kid’s joke

apparently a very rich kid in my sons math class made a joke about something to do with asking jenna ortega to the school dance and my son repeated it louder and everyone laughed and my son became very popular and was chosen for the basketball team over the rich kid…. the rich family thinks my son stole their sons informational property or something and used it for ‘social profit’ do they have a case or is this bs
