Father took me out of school to homeschool me because of “the looming disaster,” what does it mean?

Without doxxing yourself,

  • How old are you? If < 18, things are much more complicated.
  • Do you have any money of your own? If you do, make sure that only you have access to it. Seriously. If not, start saving; you will need it, perhaps in the near future.
  • Do you have any adults, hopefully outside of your father's circle of friends and family, that you can talk to about this?
  • If/when exiting your situation looks necessary, don't tip your hand. Connect with that Safe Adult and Just Do It.

FWIW, in 1924 my mother, at the age of 13, had to flee an extremely abusive mother. She had only one adult she could think of: Crazy Aunt Helen. Only Helen wasn't crazy, she was simply a lesbian. But this was 1924, so ... Anyway, she got my mother through high school, a 4-year degree at Allegheny College, and grad school at Columbia School of Journalism.

Look around and see if you have an "Aunt Helen". Good luck.

I assumed, incorrectly, that the mild humor in my edit would be seen.

It's reddit, why do you expect people here to understand jokes?

Either your father is scared you're going to get shot at school or more likely he's a moron who thinks schools are brainwashing you.

It sucks but you're going to have to do some extra studying if you want to go to college ever, and verify that anything he teaches you actually coincides with real academic teachings.
