Is it too late to get into the NBA?

I’m 35 years old, and until a week ago I had never played or seen basketball. I didn’t even really know what basketball was, besides that there’s a bouncy orange ball. My cousin taught me to play in his alley and turns out… I’m really good. I beat him so easily, and I even dunked on him. I know I’m old, out of my prime, never went to college. But is there absolutely no path for me to get into the NBA?

The oldest player to ever play in the NBA was 45. On the off chance you are just an absolute basketball prodigy there is nothing stopping you.

No matter how good you think you are, you'll be surprised by how good professionals are. But if you aren't, find a league or local thing and move up. If you dominate everyone constantly, you could be in the MBA in less than a year. But realistically, you will find a ceiling where your skills fail you.

Just say you’re a girl. You’d dominate the WNBA.

A scout for a team just has to see you play and like you. It's not gonna happen though.

Find a local league in your city. Most have em. NBA isn’t looking at 35 year olds who have minimal play experience, sorry.

No, he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1984 when he was just 19 years old.

Michael Jordan was born in 1963 so how would he be 19 in 1984?

Heck yeah. Haven't you seen the Disney movie The Rookie? Anything is possible.

He was a high-level player who was drafted as a teen but then injured and didn't recover well. It's not like he just picked up a baseball at 40. He was also a pitcher which is a really specific position that doesn't occur on basketball.

Yes.

You've played for a week. How do you immediately go to you want to be in the NBA (which, no) instead of, I dunno, is there a Y or playground with some pickup games I can get in on.

I mean I just wanted to know if there was a chance. I’ve never been good at something before so I’m kinda depressed that I didn’t try this earlier. I could have been something.
