As a fellow manager, do not publicly belittle your workers, ever.
If they threw them out, you probably didn't make it clear how important they were. If they actually made a mistake discipline them reasonably and privately.
Treat your workers like crap, get a crap return, every time. You seem like a "boss" and not a leader.
