There was a high speed vehicle shoot out on my block last night and I believe this was thrown out of one of the cars. What is it?

Amidst the screeching tires and bullet sounds, there was a distinct glass shattering sound followed by a metal scraping sound that I believe was from this object being thrown through a car window. Any ideas?

Guessing they stole things from a construction site and were ditching the evidence that tied them to it. Has there been any recent break ins to construction sites that may have gotten violent?
