Did I correctly tell my building’s super to turn the bidet water heat up to 95?

I’m current in Germany on business, in a town that has a huge population of Spanish people. It’s pretty funny because I learned a lot of German beforehand to prepare but I find myself encountering much more Spanish, haha. This includes my apartment unit, which is run but Spaniards who don’t speak any German at all. Very odd, but I’ve accepted it at this point.

Another thing I’ve accepted, and quite frankly fallen in love with, is the bidet. I’ve never used one before this trip, and I don’t think I’ll ever not use one when I get back to the States. My one complaint is that the water is quite cold. So I’ve composed a note to my super (he is super busy, so he only communicates this way) in Spanish. I already put it in his inbox this morning, but it just occurred to me I never had my Spanish checked. Is this intelligible:

“Me gustaría que subieras la temperatura del agua de mi bidé a noventa y cinco grados.”

Thanks in advance!

That's very courageous of you not to specify fahrenheit.

Yes, the note is correct but keep in mind the rest of the world uses Celsius. Next time you get the chance, let him know that you were referring to Fahrenheit just in case. Otherwise, you're going to cauterize your little "ojo de chancho".

The sentence sounds fine but what worries me more is that you didn't specify 95° Fahrenheit as opposed to Celsius, which is used in Germany. Cleaning your butt with 95°C (203°F) water doesn't sound comfortable. Now of course maybe they get the hint that it's Fahrenheit, but otherwise expect a confused reply to come back.

Why do you think the super has control over the bidet's temperature? I could be wrong, but in most places where I encountered a bidet that didn't have 2 faucets to regulate it, the water comes directly from the cold tap. To do otherwise (hot tap) could be hazardous. The only exception I've seen to this is when the bidet unit is electronic and heats the water itself.

Nobody in Germany or Spain knows about Fahrenheit - you need to use Celsius or they will not understand you - and there is no water heater in the world that goes to 95 C

Anyway, it looks like 95F is 35C. As the others have said, pretty much every country other than the US is Celsius. Don't assume others will convert the Fahrenheit or even expect it.

Well, they'll understand what you want, but they probably won't understand why.

Yeah, he is complaining about people speaking Spanish in Germany but wants others to comply to his world view… lol
