What is the most time you’ve shaved off the GPS ETA by taking a route the machine didn’t think of?

I just cut off an entire hour and eleven minutes of my roadtrip to Texas by turning off an exit and going through backroads that happened to be more of a direct path, then getting back on the highway at a better point. I have never done that drive before, nor had I been privy to any insider information about the route. I simply used my instinct about the angle of the highway and remembered a thing or two about slope from high school math, and figured that I could achieve a more direct path on the backroads. My wife was giving me the serious stink eye until she saw the ETA drop from 4hr30m to 3hr19m. She’s still not convinced we didn’t just change time zones, but we’re driving from Chicago so there is no time zone switch. Anyway, can anyone beat my time shed? Even if you can’t, what’s your best?

Does your GPS take into account traffic, if so without going the other way you will never know if the time was wrong due to incorrect data. I have avoided many backups that lasted for hours by taking backroads, but I have also cut hours off my trips when I was young and dumb by going almost double the speed limit for hours.
