Is this maneuver not allowed at a red light in Austin?

I moved to Austin for work recently and just did this maneuver because the red light was taking ages. I got pulled over and ticketed for it and the cop would not budge on letting me off. I’m from Atlanta and there you can turn like this on red— is it different here? I’m going to try to fight it in court

I think the bigger story here is that APD actually issued a traffic citation.

OP - Please document/film yourself fighting this in court, would be a fun watch.
