I recently landed a new job that allows me to WFH MWF. I love it but my boyfriend does not. He works as a security guard at a carnival and has to be there every single day of the week and a few hours on the weekend.
I kind of made what I later realized was a disrespectful comment this morning when I saw that my bf was finishing up the dishwasher— I said “finally making yourself useful around here!” in jest.
We didn’t speak anymore this morning so I didn’t notice anything was off until I went to pour myself a glass of water and saw that the cupboards were empty. When I checked the dishwasher, it was full. I was really confused as to why the dishes had respawned into the dishwasher that I saw my boyfriend empty, then noticed a note on one of the mugs that said “make YOURSELF useful :) the counters could use wiping too”
I was furious that he didn’t just talk to me if the comment bothered him, especially since I was 100% joking. Since he went right to the nuclear option, so did I. I posted his note on my instagram story and captioned it “the loving notes my boyfriend leaves me in the morning 💕” and tagged him.
He’s super pissed and claiming that my girl friends have been dming him “death threats.” He said I’m dragging his name through the dirt and that I didn’t provide any context so now he looks sexist. Did I go too far?

what a bottom-feeding jackass. You picked a fight and jerked yourself off with this "imma 1-up whatever his response is."
yes you made him publicly look like shit over a situation that you had complete control over.
my comments are "just a joke", so don't even try to think i'm an asshole. Just a silly goose.
