Construction worker putting arms in pentagon at me then showing me “5”

I have a window office on the 18th floor of my building and there is a high rise being constructed across the street. My work is boring and I zone out a lot, mostly by looking out the window. Recently, it’s been soothing to look at the construction workers working on the building.

It seems one of the workers has noticed me staring. Yesterday I swore we were making eye contact, though it was hard to say for sure because he had safety goggles on. But today, I saw him staring again at me again and this time he put his hands up in a pentagon over his head, almost as if he were about to dive into a pool. He held that pose for a bit, then stuck his hand out at me and showed me five fingers. Then he did it again: pentagon, then five. After the second cycle, I pointed to myself, like “who, me?” And he nodded, then did the pentagon again and then the five fingers.

On my lunch break, I went out to the site but couldn’t see him from the ground. I tried shouting “hey!” but only caught the attention of a different worker who ignored me.

What could this mean?

EDIT: OKAY there are now three of them. I believe it’s two men and a woman (hard hat and goggles made it hard to tell). All standing on a beam. All looking right at me. All doing the pentagon gesture for like 10 seconds, and then showing me “5”. What the fuck is going on.
