Is it possible the ear was his target?

To preface, I of course condemn violence of any sort.

I’m just have a really hard time understanding how someone could miss a non-moving person and hit a smaller target (i.e. an ear) rather than the much bigger target next to it (don’t think i need to specify what brain-containing body part i’m referring to here). My family has a lot of veterans, and I’ve been texting those who have served as riflemen and they all share my confusion. To quote one, “you just don’t miss from that distance unless you mean to.”

One possibility I can think of is that it was Trump’s ear that was indeed the intended target. If Trump has a hearing implant as most believe, perhaps he was trying to hit it as I imagine that could make him permanently deaf. Or perhaps there was another reason to just hit the ear (something in there, etc.).

I just think if that shooter wanted to shoot to k*ll, he would have done it. He got a good 3 shots in before Trump ducked and only hit his ear. Perhaps he wanted to avoid creating a martyr in Trump so made sure not to hit the head. If he WAS shooting to deafen him by bursting his implant, I would imagine the motivation was to defang him as a candidate. Because I imagine a deaf Trump would have to completely relearn how to communicate and understand others, and his main campaigning strategy is holding these giant rallies where he talks off script for hours. This close to the election it could have really hurt him in the polls if he had to do it in rudimentary ASL or whatever.

We still don’t know anything about JFK’s assassin really, so I bet we won’t know much about yesterday’s events for a long, long time. But this is my idea.

Hard nope. This was not a work or a gimmick for sympathy. The degree of error is sympathy or death. Seriously, do you believe Trump of all people would take that bet?

Unsure if satire or serious.

That's a hard nope. There is no way in the real world that a 24-year-old kid with no known sniper training, shooting an off-the-shelf AR-15 could place a shot so precisely as to just barely graze Trump's ear...and that wound WAS just a slight graze: an AR-15 round hitting his ear full-on would have pretty much turned it into chunky salsa. Aimed another millimeter to the left, it would have missed entirely.

that it was Trump’s ear that was indeed the intended target.

You ARE aware that like most people, Trump has two ears, yes? But he doesn't listen to other people with either of them, unless they're saying his name.

I would imagine the motivation was to defang him as a candidate.

Yeah, it's going to do precisely the opposite. Thanks to Biden's little senior moment. the Democrats are already in the process of sabotaging their chances in the election, and now with Trump about to be declared a Living God, the chances that we will avoid another horrifying Reign of Error by the Orange Menace are decreasing by the second.

We still don’t know anything about JFK’s assassin

We know everything about him. In Case Closed, Gerald Posner presents a very detailed biography of Lee Oswald, going all the way back to grade school.

I checked online and various sources guess at the distance with a lot of variance. The most frequently seen guess was about 150 yards. Even good marksmen can miss at that range, and regularly do. Especially if nervous, in a hurry, or whatever. Who the heck knows? A bee could have buzzed by and distracted the shooter, or a fly.

To purposely take a shot with the intention of just grazing the ear, and successfully do that, takes one heck of a shooter.

And from all accounts that kid was no where close to an expert shooter. An article I read said he didn't even qualify for his school's shooting team.

FWIW, being able to hit a target at a shooting range under controlled conditions, when you can take all the time you want, is FAR from being able to make the same sort of shot in real conditions when stressed and the target is moving.

I dont think a random 24 yr pld without military training could ever pull a shot off that precise. I dont even think the best marksmen on the planet could pull that off.

Thats some straight up anime shit you're suggesting.
