My ex wife took a melatonin before driving our kids to their first day of school 45 minutes away

I told my ex I was sleeping in for my birthday and that she would have to swing by after her night guard shift to take the kids to work. Never. Again.

I understand that a nice sleep in on your birthday is cool, but bro. She just worked an overnight to have to drive kids around. She needs sleep more than the birthday boy.

Oh wow I’m shocked you guys are divorced. Use this extra time to research how melatonin works.

Wow, kind of took it a little too far there big guy. Consider all he may know about melatonin is that people take it to make them sleep, like Ambien. But it's not, and it's fine.

Most of us just smoke weed for that.

Preach.

Okay? It’s melatonin, not Ambien.

I love that a 9 hour overnight shift is totally acceptable to drive kids but 15 mg of some snake oil on top of it is what's got him clutching his pearls lol.

15

And the only reason she’s even doing that after a night shift is because OP wanted to sleep in.

8

It's not snake oil at all. Just a chemical our bodies produce to go to sleep. Some people are just deficient in production of it and need an extra synthetic dose.

Pretty sure there's no proof it helps people and even if it does the results are minimal. They haven't proven an actual causation last I read.

lol exactly this. You should be more worried about the act of driving. That’s what’ll kill your kids. Other people in cars.

Subjecting your kids to a 45 minute commute every day for school is that dangerous thing here.

Right? I’m guessing OP’s angry about something else, which is harder to pin down and articulate, and harping on his ex about melatonin is easier.

We are both millennials and I thought people here would have kids and empathize but I guess the stats on our generation having less children is accurate.

knitoriousshe

I have kids and understand you’re massively overreacting. Melatonin doesn’t work like ambien, it’s a supplement that has been proven not to actually make you sleep. I get it, she’s your ex and you want to find fault, but she did nothing wrong. Chill, man.

I guess some people take risks with their children’s lives for no reason, some don’t.

knitoriousshe

There is literally no risk here. Just choose to learn from this instead of doubling down on your ignorance. Judging more people with false information doesn’t give you some moral high ground.

guess what OP!? YOU drive with “melatonin” in you everyday if ya wanna get technical. actually learn something before you attack someone as a parent with no actual reasoning.

Unclutch your pearls dude, melotonin is not that strong. She’ll be fine

And in addition, if you are active and have bright light and sound stimulus, there’s no way in hell melatonin’s gonna make you conk out while driving.

Melatonin gives me crazy dreams. I took for a few days in a rehab once and I kept dreaming I was being chased by a bear in my old house lol. Same dream every night too had to stop taking it because it would wake me up it was too real
