Mean Girls Mandela Effect

I was at trivia yesterday and cost my team the game on the final question, which was “what town does Mean Girls take place?” My team was saying it was somewhere in Indiana and Illinois in the United States, but I was damn near certain the whole movie took place in a high school in Cape Town, South Africa. We got into a huge fight over it, but I snatched the pencil and paper, said that they would thank me later, and wrote down Cape Town and turned it in. Well, it turned out to be wrong according to the host and everyone on my team was livid. The host even made a joke that “one team appears to have only watched the first 5 minutes.”

I rewatched the movie this morning, and I guess it now only starts in South Africa (and not even in Cape Town). But I’m 99.99% sure that in the movie my sisters made me watch a hundred times as a kid, she never left South Africa and the whole movie took place at Cape Town High School. I distinctly remember the scene where the hair stylist teaches her to “Bend & Snap” you can see the Cape of Good Hope through the window. The memory is so vivid I have to believe there’s something mandeley going on.
