I’ve been on this earth for a while and back when I was in school it was just expected that a doctor’s son would be better than others at thing relating to health— they ate better and just seemed to naturally know how to take care of themselves. Meanwhile, a janitor’s son would be better at cleaning and things like that. And why was this? It is genetics. So when the doctor’s son ended up a doctor or health professional and the janitor’s son became a janitor or a garbage person, it wasn’t “unfair” or “nepotism.” It was just natural and scientific.
Now the world is upside down and people think that someone who received the genetics to be an incredible actor from their famous dad is somehow cheating all these other people who are better suited to be plumbers or cooks but are deluding themselves into thinking they can act. A very select few will be able to do it, but all will be fighting a crazy uphill battle against their genetics which are screaming at them to get out of LA and go pick up a plunger or spatula.

Sure, that's why whatever your father did, that's what you will do for your entire life.
Don't question that, or else you might start questioning whether or not that spoiled asshole in the castle in the hill actually WAS personally selected by God to own the entire village you live in, as well as all the people in it.

Ah yes it’s not nepotism it’s just you are a genetically inferior person!
Frankly I can’t even begin to parse how someone thinks that there are things like doctor genetics
7
Nepotism isn't just about direct relationships it can also be family friends.
It's having an in- into an industry.
7
Even that's not nepotism. Nepotism is when that industry contact selects you over much more qualified candidates
1
Yes
They select somene they know because it's someone they know personally.
It's your my nephew so I pick you over this person whose got 10 years of qualification cos I know you
1
Exactly. Just knowing someone in the industry isn't nepotism. It's when that person you know experts undue influence that it becomes nepotism.
1
what you're talking about is very far removed from what I understand nepotism to be. Pretty simply, a parent is in a business, and because they love their child, they make opportunities for them. This opportunity does not have to be in line with what the parent themselves are good at, its simply something they have influence over.
edit: it does not have to be tied to the parents either. It's simply "I like this person, and will give them an advantage", which is unfair to others.

I have benefited from nepotism just because of my friends
It’s a real thing. This 10th dentist is cheeks.

Couple things-
What you’re describing isn’t genetics, it’s lifestyle. Theres no “be a doctor” gene. It doesn’t work like that.
Also, this is… eugenics-adjacent. This stuff could easily be applied to race and gender, and it’s not a great way of thinking. Nobody is predestined for anything.

Career aptitude is not stored in DNA. A child of a doctor might know more about health science than the average child. But that has nothing to do with genetics more so just their parent teaching them. For example my little sisters that I helped raise are better with computers than a lot of their class mates because I am a programmer and helped them learn, and neither of our parents were programmers.
You also clearly don't understand what nepotism is. Nepotism isnt "my dad is a doctor and I became a doctor too" nepotism is "my dad owns this company and gave me a high paying job despite me not being qualified for it." Going into a similar field as a parent or even the same field isn't nepotism. It becomes nepotism when the parent uses their influence to get their child a job over more qualified candidates.

next time OP's Calvin Candie ass is gonna be talking about phrenology
4
It’s literally eugenics lol. This sub attracts some really goofy people my goodness. Next they attach this argument to race and they have everything needed to be an anthropologist in the early 1900s
4
That's literally the caste system.

Also, it's not genetics that predisposed the doc's kid to take care of themselves, it's repeated and regular exposure to the routines and information.
OP doesn't even seem to know what nepotism is, frankly.
5
Yeah there's nothing genetic about it, does OP think Dakota Johnson gets all her roles through her natural talent?
