Can’t win in Fortnite
I am having more trouble securing a victory royale than should be the case at my skill level and am wondering if it maybe a misallocation of RAM or perhaps CPU related

You wonder wrong. If you have hardware that's capable of running the game smoothly it's ALWAYS a skill/luck issue. You could have a TB of ram and the absolute latest cpu. If you have a crappy gpu or are playing on a 60hz monitor vs all the others on 240 you will lose. Ram or cpu just about never has anything to do with it. Skill almost always

Play more and practice more. I don’t win every match but I can still win.

Make sure there is no lag on your controller, also using a newer IPS 100Hz + screen with 3ms or less response times will help drastically.
However, if there is a skill issue present there is nothing you can do other than practice, practice, practice.

This seems to be a brain issue of sorts, please take some vitamins, eat some fruit and yogurt, take a shower and go to sleep for a bit.
Wake up and try again.
