IAMA University Professor who Teaches History of Sex, Ask Me Anything!

Hi Reddit,

I'm Dr. Elsting, tenured professor who has just wrapped up teaching a course called "History of Sexual Encounters: A Study of Erotic Literature, Historiography, and Film." I'll be here the whole night answering any questions you may have about sex!

Funny enough, Week 2 we did discuss "The first sexual encounter." There's no proof, but according to studies done, it seems innate-- the leading theory is The Animalistic Encounter.

Do you find it is more challenging to teach the topic recently since the emergence of safe space/triggering mentalities, or do the students who attend your courses tend to be self - selecting and perhaps more open minded and resilient?

What's the most surprising thing someone would learn if they took the course? Or the most surprising thing you learned in your research?

Well, funny story: I'm actually a history professor who specializes in the Hellenistic World, but the sexual themes in pederasty and the Roman baths came together and became this wonderful course.

Because he is most likely a fake - his "proof" picture is that of UK Director of Internet Studies, Philip Howard. Check his post history too, he seems like a bad meme account looking for some karma.

u/LuciusDickusMaximus, or professor Elsting, why do you use the photo of the professor Howard? https://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/people/philip-howard/

I'm not sure who Professor Howard is. This is strange, gonna talk to IT. Be right back.

Update: I will be cancelling this AMA. I'm sorry, as there are many wonderful questions I would love to answer, but there was a mixup with the photos and Professor Howard has been contacted by my university to clear things up. I apologize!
