Former Assholes of Reddit, what moment made you realize you were being "that guy/girl"?

I was really proud of my "asshole" title a few years ago, because y'know, being an asshole is cool and edgy when you're young. I was doing very well in my career and being trained to travel the country, opening new restaurants and training others to do what I did at my store. My supervisor (not the one responsible for this new position) sat me down and told me I was being a prick and that he would no longer continue to train me for this role and that he was going to advise the supervisor responsible for it fo remove me from the program. This actually caused the two of us to become great friends, because nobody else would just come out and tell me that I was being an asshole.

Foolish of you too assume they have surrendered the title of "reddit asshole"

I used to do this thing where I would purposefully be difficult and pretend to not understand things when I was in a shitty mood or if I didn't agree with something.

I think I eventually just realized that I was just pissing other people off because I was pissed off. I'm more cognizant of it now though so if I ever catch myself doing it I can restrain myself. I don't know why I do it, but I'm getting better.

Once an asshole always an asshole. Or else they never really were one.
