Everything fucking sucks including our neurochemistry. We literally can't choose "a more positive outlook" that's why depression is a mental illness, not a philosophy. But also, everything objectively sucks. Everyone hates each other, we're killing the planet, the systems in place to govern are corrupt, and no one's willing to fucking fix it. I don't believe in Hell but this guy should go anyway

I think he means the dream of being some kind of mindless automaton who slavishly does what he's expected to, fulfilling obligations and responsibilities so as not to be a traumatic memory or burden to loved ones, but otherwise being devoid of any and all conscious feeling. Y'know, all the perks of suddenly not existing with none of the downsides. Somebody tell me when they come up with those imposter androids that murder people and steal their identities like in Fallout 4, sounds nifty.

The problem is that without having the ability to reflect or evaluate what is going on in your life, something will go wrong.

If you overly tolerate an untenable situation somwthing will give. If your job sucks then perhaps you need a new job. If your partner sucks you may need to be single.

Sometimes you need to be a little unreasonable to make things better.
