George Washington was a hoax perpetrated by soldiers in the Revolutionary War, this was done to cover up the success of the boxer rebellion. Good to see historians finally uncovering the truth.

Yes I have heard this too. The only question I have about the theory, is the boxers' rebellion true? It seems far-fetched to me that a group of athletes dissatisfied with their wages went on strike and sparked the French in Indiana War
As absurd as it sounds, it is true, more astonishing however is that they managed to leverage this position into controlling the American government. Ever wondered why the supreme Court exists?

I've literally never heard of anyone thinking this was the case.
Do you have instances you could link to?

Not really it was mostly my friends who like history shooting the shit but they new what they were talking about it sounded like

Is it at all possible you misheard?
George Washington was involved in far too many obvious and well documented events to have been fictitious. I'll literally just leave his wiki page here, you can see all the stuff he was part of for yourself.

My hearing is fine, thanks. I'll check out the wiki page though, thanks.

One of their dads is a history professor at the local community college, so I figured that's where he got it from
