This happened a year ago.
I was taking two history classes. I had a TA from one class who looked EXACTLY like my professor from the other class. Their names were kinda similar, too: TA was named Dahdi and Prof was Professor Tellodan. Easy to get them mixed up.
One day I'm at Prof T's office hours talking about a paper. He makes a joke, as he is wont to do, about how he wish that there was some divine punishment inflicted on a human everytime they used the passive voice. I laughed and meant to say "God would punish me, Professor Tellodan." Instead, the laughter makes me only spit out half of it and, as I have done a couple times before, I mix up his name with my TF Dahdi's. So what comes out is "--Punish me, Dahdi!" Awkward silence.

Oh good job Sherlock Holmes! Your two-part deduction is very impressive! Did Watson have to assist you on this one? It was pretty tough!
