No North Korean has access to Reddit

I highly doubt they have the technology to ban Reddit completely

Well, you'd be right that they don't have the technology. As in 99% of North Koreans don't have access to any internet of any kind. Other than that, yes, the government does have the technology to completely block Reddit. Oppressive regimes do this all the time. For example, China blocks Facebook.

But wouldn't it be smart to at least allow Reddit to keep the citizens entertained so that they don't revolt? After all most of reddit is just shitposting

I can't tell if you're joking, or just have no idea what you're talking about.

I know what I'm talking about. Any smart dictator knows that if the citizens are not entertained, they will revolt. So why would it make sense to ban reddit, an entertaining site?

Yeah... you don't know what you're talking about.

Why Reddit? Is that the only form of entertainment out there?

The citizens there have NEVER had access to Reddit, so they aren't going to revolt over missing something that they likely don't even know exists.

That’s where you’d be wrong, in North Korea the citizens can only access the government intranet, only high government officials have access to outside internet and it is strictly monitored

I don't think normal people have access to government internet. For that they would have to have computers, and from what I've ready, they are lucky to have a TV of any kind.

So most of NK redditors are government officials? Do we know if they are responsible for the cancer on r/funny?

Fun fact: using reddit in NK gives you a free 10,000 year family holiday to Korean gulag!

Oh you know working the rice fields until they inevitably find out I'm using internet and kill off my entire family

Well you aren't going to get any responses from anyone currently living in North Korea, but hopefully there are some people who've escaped that will see this and be able to give good answers! In the meantime, maybe this will help you a bit!

Awesome thank you! Bit weird to use the phrase escaped rather than emigrated aha but whatever

Trust me, escaped is the correct word...
