Everyone pretends to know what water tastes like to trick the kids but really it is unknown to all

I disagree. If you were blindfolded and given several drinks to taste, I think most people would be able to identify which one was water. There isn't a good way to describe what it tastes like, but we do know what it tastes like.

It definitely has a taste. There's many different kinds of waters and they all taste different, because the chemicals and minerals in the water vary. Tap water can have a chlorine or slightly synthetic taste, natural mineral water tastes a little salty, and source water tastes different in each place. The local water from where I come from is San Pellegrino, which tastes way better than most waters, which is why it's being exported globally
