I am not the asshole for ruining my cousin's life, despite what r/AITA says

Obligatory not today but three years ago.

I didn't want to take the hit for shop lifting at GAP because I felt like my mom was going to ground me, so I told the police that my cousin, who was at Law School, did it. I didn't think that much of it and my mom found out.

Fast forward to three nights ago: my mom and I were going to buy groceries, and the guy who rang us up was my cousin! Apparently after I got him arrested, no law firm would ever hire him so he has to work at Kroger for the rest of his life. Am I an asshole?
