My dean gaslighted me into thinking I broke the rules and now I’m facing serious consequences

My college dean has always been kind of an a-hole.... He’s made people cry just because they bothered him by asking if they could have a mental health break from classes for a week. And that’s just a taste of his character.

Well, a few weeks ago I was at a party, which is technically against the rules, but everyone breaks the rules once in a while. Anyway, I hooked up with this one broad. I got covid the following week and was in contact with the contact tracers. Obviously, I didn’t mention the party— I just said I thought I got it at the grocery store.

I thought that was that, but a few days later the dean emailed me asking to meet. In our meeting he revealed that my hookup also got covid and she told the contact tracers that I was at the party. He accused me of lying to the contact tracers. I just denied and said she must have been mistaken.

I have a meeting next week in front of the academic committee, and I have no idea what’s gonna go down. They could suspend me. I’m not too sure why they’re gaslighting me into thinking I did something wrong (I’m a college kid for cryin out loud!) but se lah vie. What do you guys think?

Well, you knowingly went to a party despite COVID and you lied to contact tracers about where you got it. Sure, everyone breaks the rules now and then. People also get busted now and then when they make poor decisions and have to accept the consequences of their actions. The best thing to do is to take responsibility for your actions. No one is “gaslighting” you here - you broke the rules, you got caught, and you are being held accountable.

so... you broke the rules and then told a lie to cover up your actions and you somehow believe that you are being "gaslighted" when confronted with your wrongdoing?

you need to take responsibility for your actions.

Your dean sounds great, can't be letting a-holes like you who keep us in a pandemic stay at college.

You did do something wrong. There’s a pandemic. 486,000 dead in the US alone. Don’t pull bulls hit with “everyone breaks the rule”. No. You went out during a deadly pandemic and put other people at risk by lying.

LOL. Fuck you. How delusional are you to think you're innocent? You deserve whatever is coming towards you.

Edit: His post history has a bunch of trollish posts, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to this one.
