Why are you people all just agreeing to roll with stereotypes about men that some rando just pulled out of their ass?

It is?

It's not. Anybody that thinks it's lame can suck my ass.

Sounds like a baseless generalization to me.

I was thinking this too. I know plenty of women who don't read. In fact in my immediate family (13) only 2 of us would be considered readers. And we have different tastes in genres.

I’m all for generalizations and I even think this one has some truth to it but the person framed it in such a way that is annoying and talking down

So lots of men and women don’t read.

Reverse those numbers and add 8 and you got it

I bet you think that's better, don't you? A 12 year old who acts like a 12 year old is a lot better than someone who's almost 30 acting like a brat, dontcha think

I’m a brat for not stroking your male ego? Damn I’m sorry mate I didn’t know you took it that hard

Ok, maybe you're different. Although, guys do like to over-exaggerate other "extensive" things....

It’s a weird alpha thing. If you read then it implies you are learning and you don’t in fact know everything.

It's not, I love reading. But I think it has a bit of a woman/feminine association for a lot of men. Which for whatever reason is a hang up for a lot of dudes.

Well I love to read. It's one of best ways to learn. The Devine Comedy is one of my favorite. How to win friends and influence people is another great read for anyone in sales. Self help my best would be the 4 Agreements. Writing blue ink pen and white paper is the best way to release things from your mind and help you remember important things at the same time.

Women of reddit, why are baseless generalizations about men so "cool" to you when you talk so much about not liking them made about you?

Seems like guys would rather care what others think than stop being ignoramuses...

I don't read as much as I want to because it's more work for my brain. Easier to just pop on Netflix and be entertained. Reading for me requires me to be active in entertaining myself - between reading AND imagining in my head what's happening. Something like Netflix does all of the work for me.

I'm a guy and I don't think reading is lame, though. I don't think I've met any guys past my time in middle school who think reading is lame.

Reading is great as long as it's something genuinely interesting

wtf, only a caveman thinks reading is bad. I read all the time, I just don't read when I have shit to do, and most guys, have shit to do. You don't see guys reading in public too often due to that... also women tend to hang out without an itinerary I've experienced which could lead to ending up in a park bench reading while in the trees shade or something vs guys who hang out and usually have an idea of what they are going to do, which translates into "having shit to do" thus not reading in public.

I don’t like reading. I’d rather watch an ant walk across the sidewalk

I can't read.

Because I won't read.

Not because its lame but because I am content with my literacy and there are other mediums available.

I have bad insomnia and reading doesnt help me. I only have time to read at night and bringing destractions into my room wont help at all.

I love to read but cant find the time.
