A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.

Have said it twice over on this thread and I’ll say it again since you are trying to claim it as your own, original quote, I can’t stand plagiarism, and because I love the ORIGINATOR of said quote.

You stole this from David Brinkley.

So quick to use the word stole, not everyone knows or cares. Sage advice should be passed on.

I normally wouldn’t have cared had OP not said it’s an original idea of his that he wrote in his own novella. Also, this is r/ShowerThoughts. These are supposed to be original ideas of YOURS, not famous quotes of others.

Lol, the shit I ponder high in the shower…I have no idea if it’s an original thought or something I picked up along the way. So while they may need correcting or enlightening, it doesn’t mean they came with intent to pass off the work of others as their own. See Hanlon’s Razor.

Like this - who'd you steal it from?

They stole it from David Brinkley. The novella post is bullshit:

I usually avoid Reddit bullshit but plagiarism pisses me off 😂

Lol my own quote from a novella I’ve been working on

MeatTaster

You stole this from David Brinkley, unless you are him and are writing a novella. Oh wait, Brinkley died in 2003. Guess you’re just a plagiarist.

I have never heard of David Binky and have certainly never stolen from his work. This is clearly an instance of parallel thinking

Bro it’s literally, word for word, the same quote. Just admit you stole it and we can all move on.

So let me get this straight. You think I stole some dead guys quote and posted it on Reddit? You see how absurd that is

MeatTaster

It’s not absurd at all, people here steal shit all the time. I wouldn’t have even noticed if you had just posted the quote, but you went out of your way to say a quote you had certainly heard before was your original creation in your shitty little novella. So, go pound sand.

Shitty little novella huh? When I finally publish my work and am hailed as a new Kafka, I’ll be sure to revisit this thread and see how much you regret your words.

MeatTaster

Last I checked Kafka wasn’t a plagiarist, and great men respected the work of other great men instead of mocking those who they could never hope to live up to, let alone those they plagiarize. “Mr. Binky,” get the hell outta here, you delusional twit.

You better hope I never meet your girl— then you’ll find out how well I “steal.”

Excellent! Why a novella and not a novel or just a book?

There really is no rhyme or reason. I think, since I’m writing about a swan family who learn to play a violin together, the novella format was just natural.
