How to save thousands of dollars as a smoker

Back in college, I was smoking a pack a day and was living on fumes (pun definitely intended). One day, my friend showed me a neat trick. Most smokers who discard their cigs on the sidewalk or street don't actually finish the entire cig. So if you just go walking around town for 20 minutes and pick up all the littered cigs, you can shake out the unsmoked tobacco into a bag, sanitize it, and smoke it in a wooden pipe. I went from spending hundreds of dollars a month to virtually nothing. The only real cost is the pipe.

Sanitizer? Huge waste of time. The pipe is turning the tobacco to carbon/ash. The superheated air is killing most contaminants. But hey, enjoy your stale trash tobacco.

What about this is shitty? I get that it might upset germaphobes but cigs are not good for you regardless. So why is genuinely saving smokers money bad?

Look, I don’t smoke, but my husband does, I do wish he would quit, but, there is no way I would want him to dig around in the dirt and trash picking up used butts. First of all, do you wear gloves when you are doing this? Gloves also cost money. How do you sanitize the tobacco? I will admit, lighting it in a pipe, might get rid of the covid-19, herpes, and AIDS, but I would not risk getting it on my hands, then touch my hands to my mouth as I smoke a pipe!

AIDS? I don’t think people are bleeding on their tobacco very often.

The other cost is your dignity.

You would think, but actually this does not impact your dignity. When people see you picking cigarettes off the ground they assume you're cleaning up the environment. It's your own dirty little secret, eh?

If you live near a reservation you could buy a bag of tabbaco for about 15$ and the tubes for 2$ and a rolling machine.

Quality of tabbaco is worth the price but sometimes it does get expensive

the real cost is your life bc of cancer and health problems from smoking

I mean sure. I'm with you. I quit smoking a while back for this reason. But this is about the monetary cost.

maybe don’t try to promote your “tip” then to encourage smoking and other health problems from used cigs

How did you sanitize it?

Hand sanitizer. When you like the tobacco, all of the santizer dissolves so you wont ingest it

It doesnt just disappear dude, it vapourizes. You are inhaling whatever is in the sanitizer as well.

I mean, OP goes around picking up trash to smoke it, I highly doubt they care about inhaling whatever fumes come out of hand sanitizer.

Ya thats true, but still. Sanitizer was made for your skin not to be inhaled. Cigs are bad for you obviously, but how bad is tokeing on Sanitizer lol. OP is just better off smoking it as is. Or... stop smoking butts off the ground.
