Title says it all. I think most people wake up on Jan 1st hungover as fuck and that's just no way to start the new year. One day would give everyone a little bit of time to recover and actually settle into the onset of a new calendar year. This would also solve the Leap Year problem, as we could just "borrow" future Leap Days and insert them between the years.
And yes, I truly believe this. I've heard all the possible counterarguments and they're all done. So if you're gonna come after me in the comments, think before you post. Thanks.

Feeling the repercussions of one's own actions is exactly the way one should start the year if one chooses to party to the point of a hangover
action->reaction
such is life, get used to it

The it wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve, would it?
Also, most people have New Years Day off.
This is an incredibly pointless, thoughtless post.

If there were another December day in between, it wouldn't be New Year's Eve would it.
Also, this would royally fuck up the calendar. The revolution of the earth around the sun is what determines the amount of days in the year, not people who can't manage their drinking.
I'm fairly sure that there is actually no logic or reason to your argument whatsoever, so id be curious to hear your thought out responses.

Just declare New Year's Eve to be Jan 30 and you'll have Jan 31 to recover.
Next problem.

Like Leap Year but every year.
If we can move the fucking clocks twice a year for crops or whatever we can certainly add a day. Not even a day, as in not a Monday or Wednesday or whatever, just a 24-hour period that doesn't count.
I will campaign for president on this platform.
"The current president doesn't have a plan to shut down this national hangover. I do."
